I don’t think it is what Kamala Harris means

Have you considered her words?

“What can be unburdened by what has been.”

God often wakes me up about daybreak. Then, I pray, and sometimes I write. Today, He gave me this article in response to Kamala Harris’s phrase. “What can be unburdened by what has been.”

We can become unburdened from our past because God made a way

Certainly, Repentance is how we acknowledge our sins and ask forgiveness from the one true God.

Repent, then, and turn to God, so that your sins may be wiped out, that times of refreshing may come from the Lord. (Acts 3:19 NIV)

If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. (1 John 1:9 NIV)

When we realize that’s the truth, we are unburdened

We become better people, neighbors, friends, and citizens and care and love one another.

Forget the former things; do not dwell on the past. See, I am doing a new thing! Now it springs up; do you not perceive it? I am making a way in the desert and streams in the wasteland. (Isaiah 43:18–19 NIV)

Fulfillment the point of becoming unburdened

Additionally, repentance is the path to fulfillment and loving our neighbors as ourselves. Reading and studying the Bible will teach you about God and how He speaks. Accordingly, He has instructed us how we should live in this beautiful world He created.

Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light on my path. (Psalm 119:105 NIV)

Jesus replied: ‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind. This is the first and greatest commandment. And the second is like it: Love your neighbor as yourself.’ (Matthew 22:37–39 NIV)

Satan tries his best to prevent us from pursuing this path

Because he is evil and has no hope, he floods our ears and eyes with temptations.

As a matter of fact, think about the moments you can’t get back. The screens in our lives have us captivated. We search for the next shiny thing or great sound bite. These screens are pulling us away from God and from serving others.

Submit yourselves, then, to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you. Come near to God, and he will come near to you. (James 4:7–8 NIV)

Put on the full armor of God, so that you can take your stand against the devil’s schemes. (Ephesians 6:11 NIV)

We have hope, we have love, we have God’s word

As you spend time reading and studying His word you will learn His voice. Before long you will learn He speaks in different ways, but none conflict with the Bible.

My sheep listen to my voice; I know them, and they follow me. (John 10:27 NIV)

You make known to me the path of life; you will fill me with joy in your presence, with eternal pleasures at your right hand. (Psalm 16:11)

In fact, I don’t know what Vice-President Harris means by her phrase. Would it not be nice to have this one phrase of her many unique phrases explained?

Y’all, we can be unburdened by what has been by opening our minds and hearts to our Creator God and then repenting.

I hope you’ll try it for your sake and those who love you.

I write to help others heal from abuse in its many forms.
